Abstract (EN)
Lighting can be designed either to fulfill functional needs or to enhance decorative and aesthetic values. In lighting designs to be made, if proper solutions are not provided, various negativities and damages may be encountered. Considering that we spend a significant portion of our lives in workplaces and homes, poor and inefficient lighting in these environments can lead to discomfort and health issues. Moreover, in our work life, poorly designed lighting can negatively affect work quality, leading to incomplete or substandard results. To prevent such adverse effects, a well-planned lighting design is essential. In this study, a lighting design was developed by selecting the most suitable luminaire based on the purpose of the space, ensuring that the best possible solution was provided to meet the specific needs of the environment. The aim of this thesis is to examine the impact of lighting on office spaces, particularly in light of technological advancements, and to create a more efficient lighting design. In this regard, the technical specifications of the luminaires were examined to select the most suitable luminaire. In the conducted thesis study, a lighting design was carried out for an office with dimensions of 4x6 meters and a height of 2.5 meters using 10W, 24W, and 34W luminaires. The design was made to achieve an illuminance level of 500 lux, a uniformity level of 0.6, and a maximum unified glare rating (UGR) of 19. It was determined that these conditions were met by using six 34W luminaires. Thus, the most effective solution of the luminaire used in the lighting design for the office environment has been aimed to be provided.
