Abstract (EN)
As the daughter of Ottoman Sultan, Mustafa III, Beyhan Sultan was born on 13 January 1766 in the Topkapı Palace's harem section and died on 7 November 1824 at her palace in Arnavutköy. Her life story tells the early stages of Ottoman westernization, the five sultans' reigns, Istanbul and the palace circle. Beyhan Sultan, who lived in the harem until the age of 8, moved to the Old Palace upon her father's death together with her mother and sister and married the Governor of Aleppo, Silahdar Mustafa Pasha when reaching 18 years old. Beyhan Sultan, who owned big mukataas in Anatolia and Rumelia, built palaces in Eyüp, Çırağan and Akıntıburnu, and managed a team of 60-80 people with her servants and employees. Under the light of sources from the period and archival documents, in this thesis, a dynastic woman's life, from the second half of the 18th and early 19th centuries, her daily life, incomes, expenditures, servants, palaces, pious foundations, relations to the dynasty family and the society have been examined. Whether Beyhan Sultan was a subject in her own life as a woman from has been discussed.
