ABSTRACTPHONON-COUPLING AND MAGNETIC FIELDEFFECTS ON THE BINDING ENERGY OF AHYDROGENIC IMPURITY IN TWO DIMENSIONSBahar KopM.S. in PhysicsSupervisor: Prof. Dr. Atilla ErçelebiSeptember, 2006Electron-phonon interaction and magnetic eld eects on a two-dimensional elec-tron bound to a Coulomb center is studied within the framework of a variationalapproximation consisting of an adiabatic polaronic wave function corrected by arst order perturbative extension by which it is possible to interrelate the strongand weak coupling counterparts of the coupled electron-phonon system.
