Analysis of resource transfer mechanism between countries in the period of economic globalization; the case of Turkey

Globalization is considered in evolution since 16th century except for some suspended periods. However, it has occurred more pervasively in social science literature after 1980s. The reason of this pervasiveness in academic literature in 1980s was the controversial developments asserted as the consequences of globalization in social fields.These controversial developments also appeared to affect the definitions of globalization. For instance, in the definitions of economic globalization criticized capital movements were claimed to form the economies. According to some sociologist, religious and ethnic conflicts are considered the side-effects of increased local-global connections and relativeness. Accusing the globalization to undermine governments? power to control their economies by assigning supranational institutions has been stated in definitions as well.Despite globalization involves all social fields, developments in economics were criticized more. The worse consequence of economic globalization recognized also by pro-globaliser is widening income gap between not only developed and less-developed countries but also rich and poor people.After 1980s many developing countries managed to increase their national products and/or exports substantially in spite of economic and financial crisis happened in 1990s. However, they were not able to increase their share in manufacturing value added and thus be able to narrow the income gap as expected. Resource transfer mechanisms formed by balancing of exchange of goods, services and money (debt or investment) were considered one of the reasons of having relatively less during that period. Improved relations, financially and commercially seemed to cause transfer of resources from developing countries to developed countries. The purposes of this study are to analysis of resource transfer mechanisms between countries in the period of economic globalization (i.e. since 1980) and apply this mechanism to Turkey.In literature, resource transfer has been mostly defined only as a financial transfer. There?s no study that has been referred to both resource transfer and inequality also. However, some consequences of globalization causing resource transfer as we evaluated were analyzed in different studies. But they were neither approached as a whole nor analyzed as resource transfer channels.By propounding the resource transfer mechanisms, it was intended analyzing through which channels the resource transfer were taken place and how globalization affected them. The resource transfer mechanisms for Turkey were also evaluated in the framework of applied politics and by tracing the changes of economic indicators in that period. Apart from this, the relationship between globalization and the resource transfer mechanisms were proved by using cointegration analysis for the case of Turkey.Key words; Globalization, Goods and Capital Flows, Resource Transfer, Neo-Liberal Politics, Globalization Indices.
