The evaluation of primary school 4th and 5th class teachers about acitivities of the social studies teaching curriculum: Sample of Soma district

This research has been made in order to definite the views of 4th and 5th class teachers about Acitivities Of The Social Studies Teaching Curriculum and variation of their views according to their sex, graduation, precedence, the classes they tought and the number of students in their class in 2011 ? 2012 education year.In order to get data, a likert type questionnaire aiming teacher?s view about The Acitivities Of The Social Studies Teaching Curriculum was applied.The universe of the research is composed by the class teachers working in the primary schools belonged to Ministry of National Education, National Education Directory in Soma, Manisa as teachers of 4 and 5 th classes. On the other hand the sample of the research is composed by randomly chosen 95 class teachers working in formal primary schools belonged to National Education Directory in Soma, Manisa as teachers of 4 and 5 th classes.As a result of the research, the view of the 4th and 5th classes' teachers working in primary schools about the Social Studies Teaching Curriculum does not change meaningfully according to teachers' sex, graduation, the classes they taught , but it changes meaningfully according to teachers' level of education and the number of students in their classes.SPSS 13. O software package is used for the analysis of the study. In the research, variables taking permanent value are shown with average, median, standard deviation, minimum and maximum values; variables taking categorical value are shown with frequency and percent. In the research, the suitability of variables to normal distribution is tested with Shapiro Wilk Test. For 2 group comparison of permanent value not showing normal distribution , Mann-Whitney U Test is used; for 3 group comparison Kruskal Wallis Test is used. For the reliability of 40-item scale, reliability analysis is performed, and "Cronbach Alpha" is found 0,957. This value shows that the reliability of the scale is quite high. In the research comparison, P value less than 0,05 , is not accepted as significant.
