Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to identify the effect of associating the products in children?s literature with the unit of `Journey in Turkish History? in social studies lesson in 7th classes of primary school while instructing this unit on students? emphatic tendencies. Independent variables of the research are : gender, whether he/she owns a private study room or not, any pet he/she feeds or not, the mother?s occupation, whether the father owns an occupation or not, the structure of the family, the number of brothers and sisters, the mother?soccupation, the father?s occupation and whether he has transmitted a disease or not.The research conducted in Cumhuriyet Primary School in Demirci/MANİSA in 2010-2011 academic year. The research was carried out with 34 students in total as an experiment group and a control group. The both groups have been applied the scale of emphatic tendency consisting of 20 items at the end of the treatment. The lessons has been processed by the researcher by associating with the subjects of children?s literature in the experiment group and with traditional methods in the control group. The collected data at the end of the research has been analysed through the SSPS 17.0 statistical package. Has been used as t-test and analysis of variance(ANOVA). The signifance level has been obtained as p<0,05 in the analysis.A significiant difference has been identified on behalf of the experiment group in the latest test points according to the scale of emphatic tendency when the points of the test group having been taught by associating with the subjects of children?s literature and the control group having taught traditionally have been checked. Furthermore, it has been identified that there has been a significiant difference on behalf of female students in the last test in gender variable. But a significiant difference has not been identified upon whether he/she owns a private study room or not, any pet he/she feeds or not, his/her mother works or not, the father works or not, the structure of the family, the number of brothers and sisters, whether he transmitted a disease or not according to variables.Keywords : Social Studies, Children?s Literature, Emphatic Tendency
