Abstract (EN)
This study has been made in order to detect the primary school 5th class students? acquisation level of expressing themselves in written language. The study has a dscriptive quality. Primary school, 5th class students in Ankara make up the study environment. The participants consist of 120 5th class students from three socio-economically different schools in Ankara city center. Students were asked to write informative and narrative texts in order to determine how far they acquired the above mentioned acquisitions. The texts were evaluated according to informative text writing and narrative text writing criteria that were composed of acquisition items. In analysing the results, SPSS 11.5 program was used. The study results show that students have acquired 12 of the acquisitions at desired level, yet they haven?t acquired 10 of the acquisitions at the desired level. Between narrative text writing and informative text writing skills of fifth class students, an unignorable difference was detected in favour of narrative text writing skill. In relation to students? common acquisitions in written narration, there was an unignorable difference between the grade averages of narrative text writing skills and informative text writing. Students? written narration skills vary according to parents? educational level, family income level, student?s having a seperate room and a study desk, family?s having a library at home, whether the family buys periodicals or not and finally finally whether the student attended kindergarten education.
