Abstract (EN)
Recently the attention paid to mother tongue learning has increased. In language and literature field, the question ?How can we provide efficient and qualified education in mother tongue training?? arises and the answers for this question are tried to be found. When domestic and foreign studies are analyzed, it can be considered that studies in this field are limited. In this study, the purpose is to be able to offer solutions to the deficiencies in this field.The aim of this research is to identify the distribution of the word types in the 5th Grade Textbook to text types. It is a descriptional study in the scanning model. In this study, the Turkish Textbook is used for the 5th Grade students in the years of 2009-2010. On the content of the textbook consisting of totally 8 themes and 16 texts, distribution and rates of the word types in accordance with text types have been analyzed and content analysis of the texts has been carried out via frequency analysis. It has been concluded that word types differentiate in accordance with the themes but they are arranged generally as respectively nouns, verbs, adjectives, pronouns, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions and exclamations.
