The evaluation of coaching roles of primary school administrators

The aim of the study is to evaluate the coaching roles of the administrators of primary schools. The study is a descriptive one and survey method was used.The universe of the study consists of teachers and school administrators working at public primary schools affiliated to Ministry of National Education, National Education Directorate of Afyonkarahisar Province in the academic year of 2011-2012. The method of appropriate sampling was used in the study.In the research, as a means of data collection Coaching and Management Skills Scale from Yeltan (2007) was used.In the analysis of the data, frequencies, percentages, means, standard deviation, independent samples t test, one way analysis of variance tests were used.As a result of the research, not a significant difference was found between the Coaching and management skills of school administrators and the variables of gender and seniority level. According to the variable of education level, there is a significant difference between undergraduate and graduate levels in favor of undergraduates. Thus, teachers and administrators having undergraduate degree have a stronger opinion than graduate levels that, administrators provide a positive communication environment. It has been seen that there is no difference between the views of classroom teachers and branch teachers about coaching roles of school administrators. Between school administrators and teachers, in all subscales, there is a significant difference in favor of school administrators.
