Teachers' perceptions towards meeting management proficiencies of primary school principals

Abstract (EN)
Managers should efficiently benefit from the meetings in order to use matter and human resources effectively and to reach the organizational targets in a short way. Meetings that are an indispensable component of democratic management are valuable tools to run the functions of each administrative process which gives directing to organizational life. Using this tool successfully considerably depends on the proficiencies of managers in meetings.In this research, it was aimed to define the level of meeting management proficiencies with the teachers? perceptions for the primary school principals. The sample of the research consists of 261 voluntary teachers who worked in primary schools located in the district of Kağıthane in Istanbul. Data were collected with ?Scale of Meeting Management Proficiencies?. Scale was developed by researcher, 32 items and it consisted of 5 sub-scale named ?content leadership?, ?participation management?, ?process leadership?, ?preparation? and ?managing group dynamic?. Alpha reliability coefficients for sub-scales raked between 0.75 and 0.96.In the analyze of data, Independent Groups T Test, One Way ANOVA, Scheffe and Tamhane?s T2 tests were conducted for groups which indicate a normal distribution (n>30); Kruskal Wallis test and Mann Whitney-U tests were conducted for groups which do not indicate a normal distribution (n<30).Findings showed that meeting management proficiencies of primary school principals were at an adequate level according to the primary school teachers but meeting proficiencies of the principals in accomplishing of the task were evaluated in a higher level than the conducting process.Key words: Primary school principals, meeting management, proficiency, teacher perception.
