Abstract (EN)
In research 3rd grade biology textbooks in primary education have been evaluated in terms of auxiliary elements in teaching. The contents of the research are the biology textbooks, student workbooks and teacher guidebooks which are in use in 3rd grade primary school during 2005-2006 academic year published by Ministry of National Education, Evren and Okyay publishing houses. Supposing that all themes in textbooks are designed similarly, The B theme named as ? My unique home?serves an example in our research. The research data have been obtained via 10-grade visual design and evaluation system of the Ministry of National Education, Guclu's five-grade visual design, Ergin's twograde summaries, Kilic and Seven's scales of two-grade inter-textual elements as well as the studies of the researcher. The data obtained have been analyzed by using Excel and SPSS programme; the evaluation of the data is based on percentages and the arithmetical averages. The result of the research indicated that; 1. Biology testbooks are insufficient in terms of visual design. 2. The questions in biology textbooks are poor in respect of number, variety and quality. 3. There is lack of elements between texts. 4. Of the three books, only one of them has the summary section.
