L'album de littérature de jeunesse dans l'apprentissage d'une langue étrangère notamment du Français à l'école primaire

In this thesis, we followed an approach from general to specific, studying the relation between the short stories and the literature, then its importance in foreign language teaching and finally in French teaching.At the end of our researches, we have come to the point that;1.Children start to discover the literature of the target language and they enter into the world of literature with the help of short stories.2.We have learned how to use this material in the class, since it is important to draw a relation between the pictures (or the images) and the story.3.The role of the teacher in using the short story efficiently is important. (The teacher shoud choose the right book, tell the story according to the level of the children and pay attention to the points that he/she should keep in mind)4.With the help of short stories and pictures, we can improve the four language skills (reading, listening, writing, speaking) that we use in communicative approach as a part of real life situations.5.Children have a great motivation while using short stories, which in the end leads to success in learning FrenchIn the end of the thesis, we gave some examples of the studies that had been made in the classroom environment with the children of primary school (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th grades). We believe that these examples show how short stories increase the language learning of the target age group.Key Words: Short story books wit pictures, French teaching, children literature, motivation, four language skills, the communicative approach.
