Abstract (EN)
Ferrosilicon (FeSi) and ferrosilicon manganese (FeSiMn) additives are commonly used in primary melting and alloying operations of secondary metallurgy, although this varies according to plant and process designs of the iron steel industry. Reducing these additives on a monthly and annual scale is considered a top priority cost improvement with FeSi and FeSiMn prices that have been increasing drastically in recent years. In this study, we aimed to examine the pyro metallurgical relation of primary melting slag with the liquid steel composition in gradual progress, with the goal of practically favorable conditions that would provide metallurgical environment for lowering amount of FeSi and FeSIM additives consumed regularly in secondary metallurgy. By creating thermo-chemical effect mechanisms into primary melting slag, metal oxides in the slag composition are intended to be deoxidized into the liquid steel bath through reduction reaction steps. Thus, lower amounts of alloying (FeSi-FeSiMn) additives will be consumed for primary melting liquid steel enriched in alloying elements to achieve finally appropriate steel chemical composition within quality standards in ladle furnace (LF) in practice secondary metallurgical station. With this improved metallurgical alloying process, alloying cost is desired to be reduced. Alloying cost (per ton liquid steel as semi product billets) due to FeSi and FeSiMn consumptions is planned to be lowered with improved metallurgical alloying process.
