Determination of problem areas affecting quality of life after stroke of patients with stroke and care: Bursa case

Purpose: The aim of this study is to describe the problems experienced by stroke patients and caregivers in their physical health, physical activity, psychological, social, spiritual and economic dimensions in the context of their ecosystem approach towards their own observations and experiences. Material and Method: The research population is the patients and patients who receive inpatient stroke therapy in Bursa İlker Celik Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital. The sample consisted of 10 patients and 10 care givers to the study and the sample method was used for the purpose. A semi-structured interview form prepared by the researchers was used in the research designed by qualitative research method. After the interviews were converted into written text, the sentences that the participants emphasized were analyzed with MAXQDA 12 program. Findings: In the study, it was found that the opinions of the participants regarding the situations affecting the physical health, physical activity, psychological, social, psychological and economic dimensions of the quality of life in the context of the ecosystem of the patients and care givers were affected in all areas according to sub-themes formed by expressions of the patients and care givers. Result: As a result of this research, stroke disease has been found to have negative effects on the quality of life of the patient and caregiver. Accordingly, in the course of treatment and rehabilitation, many tasks are assigned to the social worker and social worker in order to ensure that the patient and caregivers adapt to the disease process, improve their coping skills, improve their quality of life, improve their quality of care and treatment more effectively and become more harmonious within their ecosystem.
