Application of total quality management (TQM) in construction industry

In the last twenty years in the construction industry, globalization economy has been rapidly changing and customer preferences after the developments in social life have been constantly changed. This situation has forced companies to perceive the requirements of the customers and adapt them to the changing conditions by making the international competition conditions difficult. product provision has become the most important elements for the survival of quality products companies. It has been observed that the Classical Quality Management systems of the construction sector, which has its own production characteristics, are inadequate.Companies have begun to prefer TQM in their systems. In this study One Chapter, Quality systems and quality-related concepts are explained with definitions. Second Chapter, Total quality management philosophy, was described in conjunction with the distribution process in Turkey.Compared to the classical quality management system. Third Chapter,The general structure of the Turkish construction sector is included in the application reasons for the Total Quality Management System. Fourth Chapter,It was based on the questionnaire survey. In this study, a questionnaire survey was developed in order to investigate the application of TQM in Turkish construction industry and identify the critical success factors, barriers, and benefits of this application. The questionnaire was completed by 26 employee in construction . The results of the study revealed that there are shortcomings in TQM application in Turkish construction industry especially in relation to top management commitment and leadership; the greatest benefit of TQM to the firms is "increased customer satisfaction". In the evaluation of the questionnaire, participants' answers were evaluated using the Google Forms Program.
