Abstract (EN)

This research has a significant importance to determine how the homework sites which have appeared with the developing technology affect educational and instructional process. Because the research was implemented to the primary school students and the teachers, it is possible to determine the effectiveness, quality and usefulness of the homework sites. The questionnaire was applied to the primary school students and the teachers who are currently working at the primary schools in the city Turkey. 404 students and 425 teachers answered the questions in the questionnaire. In this research it was aimed to reply eleven sub problems. Frequency, percentages, arithmetic average, T test, F test, Scheffe test and correlation analysis were used to analyze the data. Findings from the research show that 84.8 % of the students have used the Internet at least once in their lives. In addition to this, it is realized that the students? attitudes towards homework sites are positive. The students in this research think that homework sites are useful and qualified. On the other hand, the majority of the students use these homework sites very often especially while they do homework for Science and Social subjects. The most important reason for using homework sites is that they give extra time to students while preparing homeworks. Furthermore, they make homework preparation process enjoyable. It was found that ask for the same type of homework to the students they can find ready homework easily. It is understood that to prevent students from using homework sites, teachers should assign homework which requires problem-solving activities. Homework sites should direct students to related sources rather than just giving ready-made homework straight away. When we analyze the teachers? answers to the questions, it is noticed that 53. 9% of the teachers use homework sites very often. Moreover teachers? attitudes towards homework sites are lower than the students?. The teachers were asked to express their thoughts about this question: ?Why do the students use homework sites so often?? It is noticed that one of the most significant reasons is peer recommendation. The students usually suggest using homework sites each other while they are doing homework. When we analyze the teachers? suggestions, it is found out that the teachers? attitudes towards homework sites are negative. They think that there are some deficiencies in the homework sites. When these deficiencies are corrected the teachers will probably show positive attitudes towards these sites. The teachers pointed out that the content of these sites should be checked by editors and students should be directed to use other sources such as library to decrease the use of homework sites According to this research; the students? gender, the schools they attend, their class grades, ages, their computer competency and usage frequency, internet competency, foreign language competency, the parents? education affect the students while forming their attitudes towards the homework sites. For the teachers; their individual differences such as vocational experience and the schools they work at affect them while forming their attitudes towards these sites. According to this research some findings show that there is an negative correlation between especially the teachers? experience and their detailed knowledge about these sites while they are forming their attitudes towards the homework sites. It is very striking that in this research the individuals who have detailed knowledge about homework sites have lower attitude towards these sites. This consequence has been understood by comparing the students? and the teachers? attitudes towards these sites and the results when analyzed the students? parents? education.
