Abstract (EN)
The primary aim of this study is to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of Ertele-Me, a web-based self-help intervention program designed using the principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to reduce procrastination behaviors among university students. Supported by TÜBİTAK, the program consists of five modules: "Understanding Procrastination," "Self-Regulation and Time Management," "Overcoming Procrastination Excuses," "Developing Behavioral Strategies," and "Evaluating What I Have Learned." These modules aim to help participants understand their procrastination behaviors, enhance self-regulation and time management skills, and develop behavioral strategies to manage procrastination effectively. The research employed a quantitative experimental design, with participants divided into experimental and control groups. Data were collected using the Personal Information Form, the Tuckman Procrastination Scale (TPS), the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (DASS-21), and the Time Management Scale (TMS). The results revealed significant reductions in procrastination behaviors and improvements in time management skills among participants in the experimental group. However, no statistically significant differences were observed in the post-test procrastination scores between the experimental and control groups. Nonetheless, the significant improvements observed within the experimental group between pre-test and post-test scores highlight the positive impact of the Ertele-Me program. The findings suggest that CBT-based web interventions are effective tools for managing procrastination behaviors and can positively influence the academic and personal lives of university students. This study represents one of the pioneering applications of internet-based psychological support in Turkey and provides a foundation for future research and interventions in this field.
