Abstract (EN)

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia characterized by intrinsic resistance to multiple classes of antibiotics treatment, resistance can also emerge during therapy, because of this high resistance, specialists are directed to find a suitable solution to reduce the spread of infection, in line with these attempts and a based on the study of specialists in the field of medicinal herbs, we choice a herbs contain substances that may inhibit this bacterial resistance to antibiotics, so we choice medicinal plants contain phenols and epigallogatechin gallate (EGCG), such as green tea (Camellia sinensis) Leafs, ginger (Zingiber officinale) Roscoe and (Olea europaea) Leafs. Phenols (which contain a lot of hydroxyl groups) inhibit the action of enzymes in bacteria, by oxidant groups that interact with sulfhydryl groups or with proteins in general, and it has been proved that (EGCG) disrupts the cell membrane and prevents deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) supercoiling, ultimately leading to the destruction of the bacterial cell. After taking a blood sample of the patient with S.maltophilia infection we isolated S.maltophilia from this sample and treated with plant extracts by the sensitivity test (microdilution and disc diffusion methods) in accordance with european committee on antimicrobial susceptibility testing (EUCAST). The major findings were, Stenotrophomonas maltophilia has a clear response to the inhibition of green tea and olive leaves extract with different inhibitors. Therefore, we found that S.maltophilia responded to both olive leaves and green tea clearly and although the bacteria were inhibited by the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of green tea and ginger extract, the results of the disc diffusion test for ginger extract were quite the opposite. We did not notice any sensitivity to Stenotrophomonas maltophilia against ginger in the disc method.
