Abstract (EN)

Infertility poses a significant challenge globally, impacting the lives of numerous individuals. This study delves into the intricate interplay between vitamin D3 levels and various biochemical indicators in the context of female infertility within Thi-Qar Governorate. The research encompasses 140 participants, meticulously categorized into three groups: healthy women comprising the control group, pregnant women, and individuals grappling with infertility. Comprehensive blood analyses were conducted, focusing on essential biochemical parameters, including vitamin D3, cholesterol, triglycerides, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), luteinizing hormone (LH), prolactin, and calcium. The data elucidated a compelling narrative, unveiling significantly diminished levels of vitamin D in women facing infertility in stark comparison to both the control and pregnant cohorts. Moreover, a robust correlation matrix emerged, linking vitamin D levels with critical factors such as age, weight, FSH, LH, prolactin, and calcium. Surprisingly, lipid profile parameters, encompassing cholesterol, triglycerides, high-density lipoprotein (HDL), low-density lipoprotein (LDL), and very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), displayed no noteworthy variations among the distinct groups. The study underscores the potential pivotal role of vitamin D3 in female fertility, accentuating its correlation with infertility and potential influence on in vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes. These revelations prompt a call for further comprehensive research to validate and extend these findings, potentially offering novel insights into addressing female infertility within the unique demographic landscape of Thi-Qar Governorate. The implications of this study may extend to the development of targeted interventions, including the exploration of vitamin D supplementation, aimed at ameliorating fertility outcomes for women in this region.
