Abstract (EN)

Creel is the system in which the yarns required for the fabric are loaded in circular knitting machines and the yarn is sent to the machine with the pipes around the machine. Socks machines are also a kind of circular knitting machines and are used together with the creel to store the yarns to be used in knitting and to supply them when needed in knitting. In addition to the quality and moisture content of the yarn used, yarn fly occurs due to yarn tension, yarn oscillation, yarn rotations and frictions that occur during the delivery of yarns over the creel to the knitting. Yarn fly; It causes many damages such as loss of raw materials, mechanical damage, health problems, fire and loss of labor. In this study, the yarn type, the number of turns of the yarn from the creel to the knitting, the yarn tension and the yarn flow rate, which are the parameters affecting the yarn fly, were experimentally investigated. During the experiments, regenerated, carded cotton and combed cotton yarns were used. As a result, it has been experimentally demonstrated how much the yarn type, number of turns, tension and flow rate affect the yarn fly. In the results, it was seen that the yarn type that caused the most yarn fly formation was the regenerated yarn type. It has been understood by the test results that as the number of yarn turns, yarn tension and yarn flow rate increase, yarn fly formation also increases. In addition to all these, the effect of the friction coefficient between the yarn and the tension washers and the diameter of the knots on the yarn with the yarn tension was investigated by finite element analysis. In the light of the test results and finite element analyzes, a creel design has been revealed in socks knitting machines, where the yarn reaches the knit at the minimum distance from the creel to the knitting, with the least number of turns and the least tension, which creates minimum yarn fly.
