Abstract (EN)
The history of the researches of the Iranian Lepidoptera are given. The investigation area is defined and the aim of the study explained. Information regarding field studies carried out by the author in the West-, and East Azarbayejan between the years of 1986 and 1993 are given. 417 specimens collected are determined as 82 species in 16 families. Some points regarding the way of the evaluation of the faunistical data in the literature, and the writing of the text are clarified. The faunistical data obtained from the literature and also during the field work, are arranged in the tables in each families. Herein, the valid name of each taxa, collecting localities, dates, and the number of the specimens collected of each species are given with references. After comparing the literary and the collecting data, 192 species recorded from Azarbayejan are evaluated. Among them, 37 species and 2 families, i.e., Thyatiridae and Danaidae are recorded from Azarbayejan for the first time. Totally 176 publications regarding the Lepidoptera of Iran are evaluated.
