Abstract (EN)
This thesis/study aims to examine the effect of employees' perceptions of job insecurity on their presenteeism behavior at work and seeks to determine the mediator role of work-life balance in the effect of employees' job insecurity perceptions on their presenteeism behavior. Also, the concepts of job security and job insecurity are primarily discussed in the study. Then, the concept of being present in the workplace, which is often the subject of research today, is explained. Finally, another variable of the research is the concept of work-life balance. There is no consensus yet on the measurement of the concept of presenteeism in the workplace and its Turkish equivalent in the national literature. In this context, it was decided to use the concept of presenteeism in the research as "apparent presence in the workplace". In addition, the study is followed by the development of the scale of presence in the workplace. During the scale development, first of all, the relevant literature was scanned and candidate questions were formed to measure the concept of apparent presence in the workplace. During the scale development, initially, the relevant literature was examined and potential indicators were generated to measure the concept of presenteeism behavior in the workplace. Focus group interviews were conducted while the measurement tool was being developed in order to support the quantitative data with qualitative data. The data obtained from the focus group interviews were subjected to content analysis and research questions were formed. After finalizing the research questions, the scale was conducted on 400 people. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were carried out with the data obtained, and as a result, an 18-item scale of presenteeism was developed. In the last part of the study, the results of the research conducted with blue and white collar workers in the Beylikdüzü Organized Industrial Zone in order to determine the mediating role of work-life balance in the effect of employees' perceptions of job insecurity on their presenteeism behavior are included. Research data was collected using questionnaires designed to assess job insecurity, work-life balance, and presenteeism behavior at the workplace. Factor analysis, t test, Pearson correlation analysis and regression analyzes were used in the analysis of the research data. As a result of the research, it has been determined that the perceptions of job insecurity of employees are related to work-life balance and presenteeism behavior. In addition, it was concluded that the perception of job insecurity has a statistically significant and positive effect on the behavior of being presenteeism. Finally, it has been observed that work-life balance has a partial mediating role in the effect of job insecurity perception on the presenteeism behavior.
