Abstract (EN)
In today's working life, stress is one of the most common psychosocial problems faced by individuals working in organizational structures. Especially in occupational groups where high risk, uncertainty and time pressure are intense, job stress can negatively affect both the mental and physical health of employees and cause burnout. However, employees with high psychological resilience can cope with stressful situations more healthily and their risk of developing burnout can be reduced. This study aims to reveal the effect of firefighters' reactions to job stress on their burnout levels and the mediating role of psychological resilience in this relationship. This research, conducted on 500 firefighters working in the Aegean Region, was conducted using a quantitative method and data were collected using a survey method. The findings showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between job stress and burnout levels of firefighters, and that as job stress increased, the burnout level also increased. In addition, it was determined that as the level of psychological resilience increased, the burnout level decreased; the mediating variable, psychological resilience, reduced the effect of job stress on burnout. In the study, it was determined that the burnout levels of firefighters differed according to age, position title, and province of employment, but there was no significant difference according to length of service, education level, gender, and marital status.
