Malacofauna of the İskenderun Bay

Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted between dates of December 1995 and June 1998 in order to determine the Mollusca fauna in iskenderun Bay. At the end of the investigation,: 29 families, 52 genera, 68 species from Gastropoda ; 23 families, 45 genera, 50 species from Bivalvia ; 5 families, 6 genera, 8 species from Cephalopoda ; 1 family, 1 genus, 3 species from Scaphopoda, totally, 129 species', of 104 genera belonging to 58 families, were determined. The study showed also that 47 of the species above were species migrating from the Mediterranean to the Red Sea (anti-lessepsien), 16 migrating from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean (lessepsien).
