Abstract (EN)

Allergy is a hypersensitivity reaction of the immune system to foreign substances in the environment. Allergic diseases include anaphylaxis, food allergies, asthma, rhinitis, conjunctivitis, angioedema, urticaria, atopic dermatitis, drug and insect allergies. In recent years, the prevalence of allergic diseases has been increasing worldwide. Since it is important for atopic individuals to avoid contact with allergens, it is important to identify the suspected allergen. Since the prevalence of allergic diseases varies according to geographical differences, epidemiologic studies supported by regional data are needed. In this study, we aimed to determine the profile of allergic pediatric patients in Isparta, which has a rich pollen diversity. Clinical and laboratory data of 1757 pediatric patients diagnosed with allergic diseases who were admitted to Süleyman Demirel University Pediatric Allergy outpatient clinic between May 2021 and February 2025 were retrospectively evaluated. Statistical analyses were performed with SPSS 27.0 program. The most frequently positive allergens according to specific IgE results were cat epithelium (e1), pollen mixture of meadow, tree and weed (rx1), house dust mite, animal epithelium and mold mixture (rx2), milk (f2), egg white (f1), food mixture (fx5) and Alternaria (m6). These seven allergens accounted for 87.9% of the positive specific IgE results. The most common allergens sensitized in the skin prick test were grass mixture, Felis domesticus, Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, rye, cypress, Dermatophagoides farinae and Alternaria. These seven most frequently detected allergens accounted for 63.2% of all positive skin prick tests. Skin prick test and ImmunoCAP specific IgE test are complementary methods. ImmunoCap has the advantages that it does not carry the risk of anaphylaxis, can be used in conditions such as eczema, dermographism and is not affected by medication.
