Abstract (EN)
Our country has a big potential of genetic sources of medicinal plants because of its rich flora. Nowadays, the importance of the medical plants are getting to increase. They are called and used differently according to regions. In this study, 248 plants that are sold in the Istanbul's herbalists were determined, then these plants were alphabetically ranged according to their names and also were given their chemical contents, uses, effects and location names. In addition; some essential oil plants were collected from herbalists and the were examined in terms of essential oils. In the results; nine plants (Pimpinella cmisum, Rosmarinus officinalis, Laurus nobilis, Thymbra spicata, Cuminum cyminum, Coriandrium sativum, Mentha piperita, Eucalyptus globulus and Foeniculum vulgare) of them were found suitable of standarts, but two of them {Eugenia caryophyllata and Zingiber officinale) were not found. Last five plants (Salvia triloba, Achillea millefolium, Apium graveolens, Lavandula officinalis and Myrtus communis) have not been yet any Turkish standarts.
