Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to show the level of public relation applications of private schools. Number of the students and years of facilitating of schools were used as two main determiners for understanding the importance of public relations in private schools. The study is limited with Istanbul City district and conducted to 52 founder, manager, assistant manager and PR managers who work for private primary and high schools. A 40 items questionnaire was used for the survey. After literature work, collected data by the questionnaire are analyzed with SPSS 13.0 program. The data are analyzed with parametric and non-parametric statistical techniques according to the nature of the variables and to the aim of the study. The significant level used in analyses is .05. It is found out that the levels of applications of public relations in private schools are very satisfying. When the number of students is high, the probability of having a public relations department in those schools is also high. There is a positive relationship between these variables. And there is a negative relationship between years of facilitating in the education sector and the probability of having a public relations department. We see that new schools are more concerned about having a public relations department than the old ones. Again, it is found by this study that most of the applications for public relations are widely used by private schools. At the negative side, found out by our study, most of the public relations departments do not have their own budget that can be used independently
