Abstract (EN)

In order to investigate some biological characteristics of Trachurus trachurus (Linnaeus, 1758), Black Sea mackerel in different seas and to reveal the morphological differences of the populations in different seas through the length-length relationship, 481 individuals were sampled off the Marmara Sea between September 2017 and October 2017 and 30 individuals were sampled from the Black Sea between September 2017 and October 2017. The samples were transported to the laboratory and morphometric and meristic measurements of each sample were recorded. According to the findings of the fishes obtained, it was determined that the species belonging to the Marmara Sea had a total length of 6.1-16.6 cm and a weight range of 2.0-37.2 g, while the species belonging to the Black Sea had a total length of 10.9-14.6 cm and a weight range of 10.82-21.95 g. The length-weight relationship was calculated as W=0.012 TL2.8598 for the Marmara Sea and W=0.008 TL2.9825 for the Black Sea. The sex ratios of the species were examined and it was found that the D:E ratio was 1.63:1 for the Marmara Sea and 0.30:1 for the Black Sea, while the χ2 test applied to the ratios obtained was 28.458;P>0.05 for the Marmara Sea and 8.267; P>0.05 for the Black Sea. KEYWORDS: Trachurus trachurus, Marmara Sea, Black Sea, length-weight, sex ratio
