Abstract (EN)

Municipal services are expected to affect citizens' life satisfaction positively or negatively. Various studies have been conducted for many provinces, including Izmir, where citizens' satisfaction with municipal services has been evaluated. However, when the literature is examined, no study has been found in which citizens' satisfaction with municipal services and their life satisfaction have been assessed together. The original value of this research is that it will examine the effect of citizens' satisfaction with municipal services on their life satisfaction. This descriptive research was conducted with 458 individuals between January 2025 and April 2025 to evaluate the satisfaction with municipal services and life satisfaction of individuals living in 11 central districts of Izmir province. The research data were collected online with the "Individual Information Form", "Municipality Services Satisfaction Scale" and "Life Satisfaction Scale" and analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences 15.0 software. The mean score of the individuals on the Municipality Services Satisfaction Scale is 59.403 ± 18.41. The three municipal services that the individuals are most satisfied with are; fire services, funeral and burial procedures, and culture, arts, tourism and promotion services, respectively. The three municipal services that the individuals are least satisfied with are; parking services, asphalting, road, intersection, pavement etc. construction services, traffic and signaling services, respectively. The mean score of the participants on the Life Satisfaction Scale is 21.989 ± 8.73. The three areas with the highest life satisfaction are; family life, spiritual life (religious, spiritual etc.) and the quality of education received, respectively. The three areas with the lowest life satisfaction are; living standards, economic status and social life, respectively. A strong positive correlation was found between the total score mean scores of the individuals on the satisfaction with municipal services scale and the life satisfaction scale (r:0.801, p<0.001). In line with these findings, it would be beneficial for municipalities to evaluate citizens' satisfaction with municipal services and life satisfaction at regular intervals.
