Abstract (EN)
II ABSTRACT In this study the effect of different light sources (flourescent and incandescent lamp) on some production traits and phenotypic correlation among some production traits and egg quality characterictics of Japanese quails was investigated. For this purpose, 50 birds at 8 weeks of age were used. Production traits and egg quality characterictics were measured at 13-30 weeks of age. The average live weights for incandescent and flourescent lamp groups were found as 229.54 and 224.00 g at 13 weeks of age; 227.85 and 228.21 g at 20 weeks of age; 231.07 and 233.11 g at 30 weeks of age respectively light source effects were not significant on live weight for groups. The average egg weight (g) and egg production figures (% HD) were 11.90 and 11.81; 89.4% and 88.2% for incandescent and flourescent lamp groups respectively at 13-30 weeks of period light source effects were not significant on the egg weight and egg production traits. Light source effects were not significant on the daily feed consumption and feed convertion rate. Light source effects were significant on the egg shell weight, egg shell rate, egg shell thickness, yolk weight and albumen weight, not significant on the yolk diameter. At the end of study, the highly positive correlation was found between the live weight and egg weight; daily feed consumption and feed convertion rate. The positive and statistically significant (p<0.01) correlations were determined among egg weight, yolk weight, albumen weight, shell weight as internal quality characterictics. Key Words: Japanese quail, light sources, production traits, egg quality characterictics, phenotypic correlations.
