Examining the quality of sexual life in women with gynecological cancer

Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to examine the quality of sexual life in women with gynecological cancer. The universe of the study consisted of 350 women who were diagnosed with gynecological cancer and receiving treatment in Gaziantep University Faculty of Medicine Şahinbey Research and Application Hospital and Gaziantep Cengiz Gökçek Gynecology and Obstetrics Hospital between June 29 and September 28, 2018. The whole sample was included in the study. The data of the study were collected by using the Introductory Features Form and the Quality of Sexual Life Scale-Female form. The data were evaluated in SPSS program. The quality of sexual life in women with gynecological cancer was found to be low (34.1±10.2). When the sexual life characteristics of women are compared with the quality of sexual life; the quality of sexual life of those who did not have sexual problems in the treatment process (38.6 ±14.0), those who continued their sexual intercourse within the first month after treatment (35.7±11.2), those who did not use auxiliary products (35.0±9.9), those who wanted to get help from their spouse to solve their sexual problems (36.6±8.4) and those who got help to solve their sexual problems (37.0±9.1) were determined to be higher (p <0.05). When the quality of sexual life are compared with changes in women's sexual life before and after diagnosis; the quality of sexual life of those whose sexual desire (37.6±9.0), frequency of sexual intercourse (37.3±8.9), vagina / vaginal dryness (38.9±9.3) vagina / vaginal width (37.3±11.3), degree of pain during sexual intercourse (41.2±12.4), quality of sexual intercourse 'changes a little' (43.1±9.8), tendency towards the forms of sexual activity 'quite changes' (39.2±6.3) were determined to be higher (p <0.05).
