Abstract (EN)
Mumps is a acute trending viral infection whose infectious agents is Rubulavirüs. although usually seen in children of school age, the disease may also occur in unvaccinated or uninfected adults. Infection of the virus may cause serious complications in older age. Especially occurance of orchitis which keeps testis in men is undesired complication because of causing sterility. Uninfected and unvaccinated health care workers (HCW) are at high risk because of their workplace conditions.In this study, mumps IgG antibody using ELFA method in serum samples of 76 health care workers (HCW) who stated that they were uninfected and unvaccinated was examined. Serums were analysed in Central ELISA laboratory with Mumps IgG (MPG VIDAS, Biomerieux, France) kit. Mumps IgG seropositivity was found 93.11% in women and 93.62% in men. Mumps IgG seronegativity in women was 6.89% and in men 6.38%. Seronegativity was the highest at women in 26-30 age group and at men in 31-35 age group. Also mumps IgG seronegativity was found higher in medical assistant group. Health care providers who are seronegative were informed about mumps disease and recommendations were made for vaccination.
