Kâbilî?s poetry periodical (mecmua) titled ?Sultân-ı Hûbâna Münâsib Eş?âr (poems worthy of Sultan of beauties)

The subject of our thesis is the periodical of ?matla?s (first couplet of poetry) compiled in XVI. century. Magazine is compiled by person who is from Kâbilî pen name, and is also poet. Our study is established for handling the text of poetry periodical which we found one copy consisting of 5515 matlas belonging to 722 poets and for making studies related thereto.There are two dimensions about our study on it. First one is about quality of the poetry periodicals in general. In this context, firstly we have elaborated definition, scope, historical background, shape and content features of poetry periodicals, and we have discussed the opportunities presented to today?s readers with roles within tradition. In this section, we have reviewed classification of poetry periodicals and have made new classification trial for text of poetry periodicals, which are recently revealed; and we have presented to attention of science world. Furthermore, we have made review on biographical aspect of poetry periodicals as a subject not mentioned before.The other dimension of our study is related to content of the poetry periodicals. Because the poetry periodicals having thematic aspect with inclusion of couplets related to beauty of the beloved is in different and important position that the similar ones. According to our findings, the magazine has gained importance because the subject handled in different literary types is the first example reflecting to the poetry periodicals and other poetry periodicals are also compiled after the poetry periodical in question with same subject.The other point related to content of work is about poet. The couplets mentioned in the magazine have been mainly selected from Turkish poets, and 1046 couplets have been taken from Persian poets. This case allows us to find common and different use of Turkish and Persian poets with regard to same factor. With these aspects, the poetry periodical is most basic source that can help beforehand as for revealing the interaction between Turkish and Persion literature/poets at the period which has been compiled and for thematic studies related to beauty of the beloved attempted to be done by the Classical Ottoman Poetry researchers.With these aspects, our study is versatile study which makes new determinations on poetry periodicals stopped only being text publication, handles beauty of beloved and compares forms handled by Persian and Turkish poets in context of intertextuality of this theme.
