This thesis examines Kadir Mısıroğlu's views on Islamic sects and religious formations that aim to distort, within the framework of his interpretations of history and religion, and examines this topic within the context of the History of Islamic Sects. Drawing on Mısıroğlu's works, the study examines how he defines the concept of distortion, which sects and religious formations he considers within this scope, the historical origins and developmental processes of these sects and religious formations, and the influence of these structures on Islamic thought. The research consists of an introduction and three sections. The introduction section addresses topics such as the purpose of the study, the sources used, and concepts related to sects and distortion. The first section examines Mısıroğlu's life, works, and understanding of distortion. The second section analyzes the reasons for the emergence of sects with distortion purposes and their fundamental characteristics. The third section focuses on religious formations with distortion purposes and prominent figures within these formations. The thesis was prepared using a comprehensive literature review and source analysis. Drawing on Mısıroğlu's works and video recordings, the thesis examines within an academic framework how, in his view, false Islamic sects and religious formations were shaped and which elements led to their distortion. As such, the study, for the first time in the field of Islamic Sect History, comprehensively and systematically examines Mısıroğlu's understanding of distortion, enabling academic discussion of the subject. The thesis concludes that Mısıroğlu does not limit his concept of distortion solely to literal changes in sacred texts; he also considers elements such as the discrediting of sects and religious sciences, the idea of non-sectarianism, modernist reform movements, and ideological orientations within this framework.
