Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between work-family life balance and tendencies to supervisorship of female teachers working in primary and secondary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. Population of this study that was designed in relational survey model was composed of 6853 female teachers working at public primary and secondary schools in five central towns the provinces of Antalya province in the school year 2012-2013. In this study, 34 schools were selected through the techniques of purposeful cluster sampling. A total of 528 female teachers working in these schools were provided with the data collection tool and after eliminating the unsuitable ones the research was carried out with the remaining 396 observations. A three-part questionnaire was used as data collection instrument in the research. The questionnaire consisted of "The Work-Family Life Balance" scale developed by Apaydın (2011), "The Tendency to Supervisorship" scale which was developed by the researcher for female teachers, and some demographic questions. The data of the study was analysed using the SPSS 13.0 and Lisrel 8.54 software packages. The findings of the study show that there is family-work life balance in the sample group, the negative effect of the work on the family life is low, and the negative effect of family on the work life is lower. It was observed that female teachers are in favor of balanced representation of gender in the supervisorship role, but private life priorities limit their tendency to supervisorship. It was observed that while the increase in workload did not affect the tendency of supervisorship negatively, the lowest level occurred in the career desire. In some dimensions, the variables "seniority, branch, educational status, number of the children and family member who needs care" for the family-work life balance; the variables "marital status, age, seniority, education status, spouse's work, and evaluation of supervision experience" were found to be significant for the tendency to supervisorship. As a result of the simple linear regression analysis conducted to determine the relationship between the work-family life balance and the tendencies to supervisorship of female teachers, the following predictor variables were found to be significant: the negative effect of the family on the work life on career desire of female teachers; the negative effect of work on the family life and family-work life balance on the increase of workload and on the private life priority; and family-work life balance on expectation of gender's balanced representation. Key Words: Female Teacher, Provincial Educational Supervisor, Work-Family Life Balance, Tendency to Supervisorship.
