Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to research the traditional ceremonial women's costumes of Kahramanmaraş region and to analyse the techniques of the needlework, patterns, fabrics, and accessories. At the first chapter of the study, the history of the Kahramanmaraş region is researched. The geographical conditions, socio-economical structure of the region analysed. The geographical, cultural and traditional changes over the region during the history of the city, and the effects of these changes on the public and social life determined. At the second chapter, the traditional hand crafts of Kahramanmaraş region are studied in detail. At the third chapter of the study, the traditional ceremonial women's costumes of Kahramanmaraş region were analysed according to the techniques of the needlework, patterns, fabrics, and accessories. At the last chapter, a new women's collection inspired by the traditional ceremonial women's costumes of Kahramanmaraş region designed and the illustrations are presented.
