Prof. Tevrican DOKUYUCUThis research was carried out in the second crop seasons of 2003 - 2004years, on the experimental station of Kahramanmaraş Agricultural Research Institutein the split plots experimental design, with three replications. In the research, Asgrow- Piave corn cultivar were grown to determine the effects of different nitrogen rates(0, 8, 16, 24, 32 kg N/da) and plant spaces (16, 18, 20, 22, 24 cm) on the yield, yieldcomponents and some agricultural traits.According to results of the experiment, first ear height, plant height, tasselflowering, harvest index and grain yield were decreased by increasing of plantspaces. On the other hand, ear length, row number per ear, kernel number per ear,stem diameter, number of nods, ear thickness, single ear yield, ear number per plant,1000 seed weight, total dry matter were increased by increasing of plant spaces.In the research, among the investigated traits only tassel flowering weredecreased by increasing of nitrogen rates, the other traits were increased byincreasing of nitrogen rates.According to the results, it was determined that the most suitable plant spaceswere 22 and 24 cm and the optimum nitrogen rate was also 32 kg N/da.Key Words: Corn, Nitrogen Rate, Plant Spaces, Yield, Yield Components.II
