Abstract (EN)

Calligraphy and Typography are the main elements of graphic design. Poster design is an important visual communication tool with the purpose of consisting these two elements and consisting the message. The concept of typography, which emerged with Gutenberg, has evolved to a great huge in time and has converted a design element. The calligraphy has developed over time by keeping up the modern era, has become an art of writing that is seen in many parts of the World. In the 1800s, these two terms which began to show itself more in the poster design has been a significant reflection. Especially typography, Bauhaus and New Typography movement has began to began prominent in the arts of posters, many books and articles on this situation has been written. In this study, the use of typography calligraphy in posters were investigated and their reflections on poster design were examined. Especially in today's posters designs, calligraphic and typographic designs have started to come to the forefront. Modern calligraphic poster designs were given more during the thesis study; interviews with various designers showed different perspectives and ideas on this issue. In these days, calligraphy and typography are used in the arts of posters as design itself. In this issue, it has been observed that calligraphy and typography are used alone in design and sending message anxiety is minimized while maintaining the concern of consisting messages in contemporary poster designs, and that the message can be given in a very clear and memorable way without the need for any illustrations or visuals.
