Risk assessment application in limestone quarrying operation and comparison of methods

This study aims to determine the dangers of open-pit mining operations and to create practical and guiding solutions for the businesses by evaluating the measures that can be taken. In this context, an active open-pit (surface) mining operation has been selected. Research has been conducted in order to show the status of the sector in Turkey. Information about limestone quarry operations has been presented and analyzed in terms of occupational health and safety. Within the scope of the thesis, a risk assessment has been performed within the limestone quarry. The results of the risk assessment performed by using 5x5 matrix and 3T risk assessment methods have been compared.
