Evaluation of the public support mechanism in terms of businesses using supports: Case study in a Samsun

While global developments ensure the development of countries, inequalities between regions have become an important topic of discussion, especially in developing countries. Globalization has brought with it developments and new policies in many fields such as economic, social and political. This situation has led some of the regions to develop more economically and some to lag behind. In order to minimize the imbalances between regions and to ensure regional development, many countries intervene in the economy with government support and incentives. In our country, economic, financial, administrative and technical incentives are given to companies in order to ensure economic development and to eliminate interregional economic imbalances. This study was carried out on 138 enterprises operating in the province of Samsun, which aims to determine how the enterprises benefiting from the governmental incentive mechanism have an effect on the economy of Samsun province, for this purpose, the survey method was used in the collection of research data, and the results that would shed light on the relevant institutions in shaping the incentives were tried to be revealed. With this study, which aims to determine what effect the public support mechanism has on the businesses using the financial supports, a survey was applied to 138 businesses operating in Samsun. As a result of the data obtained from businesses; It has been determined that public supports significantly increase the capacity, competitiveness, profitability, product and service quality of businesses, also the results shows businesses need support in the field of tax exemption, machinery/equipment purchases and exports. The study attempted to reveal results that would shed light on the relevant institutions in shaping supports and incentives.
