Examination of public unit prices which is used in approximate costs of public building

The construction sector is all kinds of construction work, including transportation, infrastructure and superstructure. Buildings and public investments constitute the majority of this sector, which shapes the built environment and has a significant share in the Turkish economy as well as in the world economy. The fact that the approximate cost calculated before the tender is close to the cost calculated at the end of the project shows the success of the project management. The success of public institutions in project management makes a great contribution to the country's economy. Within the scope of the thesis for the determination of successful project management, a literature review was conducted primarily examining subjects such as project management, cost management, project management of public institutions, approximate cost calculation methods for public construction works, and public unit prices. After the literature review, the unit price exposure analyzes of public institutions, which play an active role in the preparation of the approximate cost of the building, were compared with the analyzes used in the market and their differences were revealed. Finally, the consistency of the amounts in the analyzes was evaluated by interviewing the contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, craftsmen and workers operating on the basis of the construction sector in Antalya. As a result of the study, it has been seen that most of the public unit prices used in preparing the approximate cost do not reflect the market conditions.
