Investigation of existence of extended spectrum beta lactamase enzyme in K. pneumoniae, K. oxytoca, E. coli isolated from blood culture

Abstract (EN)

In this research, the extended spectrum beta lactamase activity of E.coli and Klebsiella bacteries, isolated from 191 patients? blood types, investigated by Double Disc Synergy Mehod (DDSM). Of the 191 bacteries, 66 were named as K.pneumoniae, 1 was named as K.oxytoca and 124 were named as E.coli. Nineteen (%28,4) of 66 K.pneumoniae are found extended spectrum beta lactamase activity positive. Isolated 1 K.oxytoca?s enzyme activity is negative. Extended spectrum beta lactamase enzyme activity of the 38 (30,6%) of 124 E.coli are positive. According to CLSI (Clinical And Laboratory Standards İnstitute) criters, the resistance ratio of products of Klebsiella bacteries, producing extended spectrum beta lactamase activity, to the antibiotics used in DDSM method, found as 100% to amoccyciline clavulanic acide (AMC), 84% to cefotakcyme (CTX) and ceftasidyme (CAZ), 95% to aztreonam (ATM ) and 89,5 % to ceftriaksone (CRO). vii The resistance ratio of extended spectrum beta lactamase activity producing E.coli bacteries, to the antibiotics used in DDSM method were found as 95% to amoccyciline clavulanic acide (AMC), 84% to cefotakcyme (CTX), 84% to ceftasidyme (CAZ), 79% to aztreonam (ATM ) and 79 % to ceftriaksone (CRO) respectively. In the future, DDSM, will often be prefered because their being in the investigations of extended spectrum beta lactamase activity, because of being treated as easy, being simple, fast, economic and resulting trustable. In conclusion, it is thought that investigating extended spectrum beta lactamase activity positive bacteries, may facilitate the election of proper antibiotics for treatment and may be useful for preventin of drug resistence evolution.
