Abstract (EN)
Blood and implant surface are the first structures those come into contact after implantation. Blood; carries various cytokine and growth factors that stimulate the formation of new bone, initiates coagulation and this constitutes the first step of osseointegration. If the blood does not wet the implant surface well, the wound healing may not be ideal. Therefore, the blood-implant surface wettability relationship is important. The wettability is influenced by the properties of the surface and the liquid. Blood lipid level is one of the factors that can change the viscosity of blood. An increase in blood viscosity due to hyperlipidemia may adversely affect wettability. The aim of the study was to evaluate the wettability of hyperlipidemia and statin on implant surfaces. In this study, five surface groups were formed including Grade 4 titanium Machined, Grade 4 titanium SLA, Grade 4 titanium SLActive, Roxolid SLA and Roxolid SLActive. Blood-surface contact angles were measured by dropping blood to the surfaces in three phases which healthy, hyperlipidemic and treated. Kruskal Wallis test was used to compare the parameters not having normal distribution, and Mann-Whitney U test was used for bilateral evaluations. There were significant differences between SLA and SLActive surfaces in healthy phase, Machined and SLActive surfaces in hyperlipidemic phase and only Roxolid SLA and SLActive surfaces in treatment phase. When evaluated by time, Grade 4 Machined and Grade 4 SLA surfaces were significantly different in terms of wettability. Key Words: hyperlipidemia, implant surface, contact angle, wettability, animal model
