Abstract (EN)

Objective: This study was planned to determine the factors affecting the school life of children with cancer. Method: This study is a descriptive study. The research includes120 children who have been treated at a university hospital and Research and Education hospital between June and October in 2013. A written and official permission was taken from the Ethics committee, hospitals, child and their families.The data were collected through a child information form and child and parent interview form .The findings obtained at the end of the study were assessed by using SPSS 15.0 program. In the analysis, descriptive methods were evaluated by chi-square test. P <0.05 was considered significant. Findings: According to the findings of our study, 87.5% of the children 's was determined to do school absenteeism. Considering the causes of absenteeism 38.3% of the children were determined on school absenteeism.reported physical symptoms (eg, neutropenia, nausea, vomiting, pain, etc..) and 86.7% of the children reported related to the treatment reasons (surgery, bone marrow transplantation, etc..). The number of school absenteeism days more than 21 days is 75% of the children. Conclusion and Suggestions: In this study was identified determine the factors affecting the school life of children with cancer. As a result of this study should be performed more comprehensive data on qualitative studies for obtain school life of children with cancer.
