Abstract (EN)

Proper treatment of wastewater generated in residential areas is extremely important for human and environmental health and the protection of water resources. In this thesis study, the treatment processes and wastewater influent and effluent analysis results of the Karataş Wastewater Treatment Plant operated by ASKİ (Adana Water and Sewerage Administration) were examined and the treatment performance of the plant was evaluated. In this study conducted for the period of August 2022 - March 2024, samples taken from the influent and effluent points of the wastewater treatment plant were analyzed. The measurement results made according to the parameters of COD, BOD, SS, TP, TN and pH were evaluated according to discharge limit values. The treatment efficiency of the plant was evaluated by examining the changes in the removal rates of each parameter taken as basis in the measurement and especially important nutrients such as total phosphorus and total nitrogen that require advanced treatment by months. In the months following the biological adaptation and optimum operating conditions, a steady increase in the removal efficiency of the facility was detected. It was observed that discharge standards were met in all analysis results.
