Abstract (EN)

In this study, mechanical or laser polishing of fiber optic surfaces were doneand changing of gain (loss decreasing) were determined. It was observed thatthe polishing by carbondioxide laser beam decreases the losses in the efficiencyinstead of cutting by fiber scissors and polishing materials with micron scale.Different manufacturer?s fiber optic cables were used and the losses aremeasured as desibell (dB). The application time with respect to efficiency wasinvestigated and minimum loss was determined in the six seconds laser beamapplications.Science Code : 404.05.01Key Words : Fiber optic, Laser, CO2 Lasers, Surface polishingPage number : 54Adviser : Yrd.
