Abstract (EN)

Sibling jealousy and peer bullying are two significant issues that play an important role in individuals' social relationships and can lead to serious consequences. These two issues can negatively affect the healthy development of children. Therefore, it is important for families, educators, and society as a whole to be sensitive to these issues and take preventive measures. Teaching children empathy, respect, cooperation, and solution-oriented behaviors can be effective in preventing sibling jealousy and peer bullying. Additionally, increasing awareness of these issues and creating a supportive environment in society is crucial. The aim of this research was to investigate the impact of sibling jealousy and peer bullying on academic success. The sample of the study consisted of 6th and 7th grade middle school students and their parents, totaling 353 participants. The Socio Demographic Information Form, Marmara Sibling Jealousy Scale, and Peer Bullying Scale were used in the study. The reliability of the scales was assessed using Cronbach's alpha analysis, and it was found to be sufficient for this research. Pearson correlation analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between independent and dependent variables. Independent samples t-test was used to examine the differences in levels obtained from measurements according to demographic variables for two-group demographic variables, while one-way ANOVA analysis was used for demographic variables with more than two groups. When looking at the results of the study, it was found that as students' levels of peer bullying decreased, their levels of sibling jealousy also decreased moderately. It was also found that there was a difference in sibling jealousy between students with excellent academic performance and those with good, average, passing, and failing academic performance, with students with excellent academic performance exhibiting lower levels of sibling jealousy.
