Abstract (EN)

`Relationship between rosuvastatin pretreatment and microalbuminuria inpatients having coronary artery bypass surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass? Objective: Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) causes systemic inflammatoryresponse and often accompanied by increased capillary permeability.Microalbuminuria is a sensitive sign of increased capillary permeability. The aim ofthis study was to evaluate whether or not rosuvastatin (RSV), which are proved tohave antiinflammatory effects, attenuates microalbuminuria after coronary arterybypass grafting surgery (CABG) performed using CPB.Methods: This study has been performed prospectively with 40 patients afterinstitutional ethics committee approval and written informed consent. The patientshave been divided into two groups as control group (n=20) and rosuvastatin group(n=20) who had RSV 7 day (20 mg/d) before elective coronary artery bypasssurgery. Microalbuminuria and serum C-reactive protein were measured at severaltime points until the first postoperative morning. Results: The demographic data and preoperative characteristics of thepatients were similar. There were no significant differences between the two groupsregarding to CPB, crossclamp and the operation periods, inotropic supports, bloodtransfusion amounts, extubation times and time to discharge from hospital. Theurinary albumin/creatinine ratio was low in both groups before surgery, but reached amaximum level at the end of CPB. Serum C-reactive protein increased after theoperation in both groups. There were no statistical differences between groups. Theurinary albumin/creatinine ratio measured in the intensive care unit 6 hours after therespective time points was significantly lower in control group(p<0,05).Conclusion: Preoperative rosuvastatin treatment is not associated with areduction in the inflammatory response measured in the present study after coronarysurgery.Key words: Cardiopulmonary bypass, systemic inflammatory response, rosuvastatin, microalbuminuria.
