Abstract (EN)

Energy need is increasing steadily with the growth of world population. Fossil fuels are the most used resources to meet the growing energy need. In fossil fuels, coal is used most commonly. However, especially in industries, improper burning of the coal causes air pollution and harms the atmosphere. For this reason, it is necessary to use environmentally friendly, economical and efficient fuels while obtaining coal energy. Moving grate boiler, that burn low-quality fuels, make the coal burn with high heat transfer and low emissions. In this study, numerical modeling of the moving grate boiler was carried out using the FLUENT module in ANSYS software. The boiler is modeled in three dimensions in accordance with the actual operating conditions. Equations solved independently in time. A standard k-ε turbulence model was chosen as the turbulence model in the model. As radiation model, P1 radiation model was used. In the combustion model, the Eddy Dissipation combustion model was applied. The effect of gas-phase turbulence on the orbits of solid particles is taken into account using the discrete phase model. Anthracite, lignite and peat coals were used as fuel. In this doctoral dissertation study, different coals was burned, flow, heat transfer and emission results were obtained in a moving grate boiler. In addition, the accuracy of the Mimsan company was confirmed by comparison with a boiler in operation.
