Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on the comparative and genealogical analysis of male and female clothing names in historical and contemporary Turkic written languages, with a special focus on Kazakh Turks. Based on archival sources, academic studies, oral history data, scientific records, folk narratives and modern language data, the research examines the origins, semantic evolution and structural features of clothing names in a sequential manner. Using a comparative methodology, the linguistic development of terms for men's and women's clothing in different periods and regions is assessed, while an origins analysis reveals how these terms have been enriched over time through cultural interactions. The findings show that regional differences, gender roles and cultural transmission processes play a decisive role in the formation of clothing terminology. It is also emphasised that these names are not merely functional labels, but reflect deeper aspects of social identity, ceremonial practices and shared cultural memory. The analysis, supported by complementary research based on oral traditions and academic studies, further illuminates the lively interaction between linguistic continuity and innovation in Turkic written languages. In the concluding part of the study, the origins of the words related to the subject discussed in the thesis in terms of origin are determined and evaluations are made on the derivational power of Turkish based on their etymologies. In general, this research shows that the terminological study of the clothing of Turkic peoples in the context of Kazakh Turks plays a critical role in understanding broader historical, cultural and linguistic phenomena. Combining historical and contemporary perspectives, the study offers valuable insights into cross-cultural interactions and constitutes a methodological reference work for future interdisciplinary research. Furthermore, the findings emphasise the resilience of cultural inheritance through linguistic innovations and offer a deeper insight into the evolution of identity among Turkic peoples.
